About My Clients
I love working with people who want to learn about themselves so they can grow. As an EMDR-trained therapist, I work with clients who have trauma in their background to help them move out of the painful past into a calmer present and happier future. LGBTQIA+ clients are welcome, and my training in working with trans clients has helped those clients thrive. My clients are adults who are working to feel better about themselves and improve their emotional and mental health.
My Background and Approach
You and I will work together to identify your goals and ways you want to feel better in life. I approach you as a whole person with a lifetime of experiences and strengths you bring to the table. My job is to help you make sense of your experiences and how you have developed as a person, and then how you can take that knowledge and move forward. I can teach you how and why your brain and body respond to stressors the way it does, and teach you ways to start to change your responses. I have also been trained in treating trauma through EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), so I can help you heal the wounds of the past. I have also helped people develop skills they need to function in the world more effectively and feel more comfortable and confident interacting with others without anxiety, anger, or other emotions interfering.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the humanity and worth of every individual. I have worked hard to become an ally for the LGBTQIA+ community and to understand my own privilege and biases to better help all people have their voice be heard and to try to help heal community trauma. I believe in science, and I know that we still have a lot to learn. I believe soccer is the best sport in the world, but I won't be offended if you don't agree with me. I believe that learning how to like ourselves, mistakes and all, is the best way to thrive, and I believe I can help you get to know and like yourself even better.
