About My Clients

I love people, and form deep, healing relationships with all kinds of clients. If you’re craving deeper connection, creativity, purpose, authenticity, I’d love to support you. Often, difficult experiences or circumstances put us in "survival-mode" where we ignore how we feel in order to get through the day, please others, and stay safe. You can move beyond that. I especially enjoy supporting young people, and the young people inside us grown people.

My Background and Approach

I believe that most patterns that hold us back once helped us through difficult experiences. Understanding what has shaped us can help us be kinder to ourselves. But for things to change, we have to experiment with new ways of thinking, feeling, and acting. That can be scary, and I’m here for you! The foundation of this work is a secure relationship. I build trust by being myself, deeply listening, and reflecting what I hear to make sure I’ve “got it.” I practice collaboratively, working with you to zoom in and out between immediate concerns and deeper patterns. I hold a trauma lens and primarily practice from an Internal Family Systems perspective, incorporating EMDR and as needed (hover on the names below for explanations of this jargon). Sometimes, trauma gets stuck in our bodies, and I integrate body-based techniques to self soothe and release. Sometimes, we need new tools to deal with crises and live by our values, so I teach mindfulness, coping, communication, and other skills.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that racism, sexism, heteropatriarchy, transphobia, fat phobia, xenophobia, and other forms of oppression have corrosive impacts on wellness. It is my responsibility to earn your trust and invite these realities into our therapeutic work. I work to be attuned to how my identities and experiences intersect with/diverge from yours, and how this may lead to assumptions or misunderstandings. My clinical internship was at an LGBTQIA-affirmative practice, and my experiences organizing against racism within my social work program shape my approach as a therapist. I know that healing comes in many forms and doesn't happen solely in therapy. I am curious about the coping and healing practices my clients do already, and encourage connection, community, ritual, art, music, faith, play, movement...whatever works for you. Personally, dance, singing, and deep friendships keep me thriving. I'm in a group reading and integrating Decolonizing Therapy into our practices.
