About My Clients
I work with older adolescents and adults facing a wide range of issues, such as anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or parenting challenges. I specialize in working with younger adults, with a particular focus on the anxiety and uncertainty that can accompany the transition from the late teenage and college years into the independence of the early twenties to mid-thirties. Whatever the issue, my goal is to foster a supportive, safe, and client-focused environment.
My Background and Approach
A Northwest native, I have lived in the Seattle area for over a decade, after moving from Portland, Oregon, to pursue my graduate degree in social work. I have worked in a range of settings, from child welfare and dependency to cancer support to one-on-one therapy. Each position has helped me to develop my understanding of how we as humans experience and process a range of events, from the joy of remission to the sorrow of losing a loved one to substance abuse, illness, or estrangement. I incorporate many practices into my approach to therapy and ultimately work with the client to determine the best fit for them. I am trained in traditional approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and humanistic, psychodynamic approaches, as well as newer methods such as Lifespan Integration (level 1).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My professional background is in social work and I am committed to social welfare and social justice reform. I believe that therapy can be beneficial for anyone, wherever they may be in their personal journey. In addition to my work as a therapist, I am also a wife, a mother of two, a dog owner, and an avid watcher of the British Baking Show. I love to read and know more about Harry Potter than I would prefer to admit. I also enjoy cooking, biking, and women's basketball (Go Storm!). I love my job and feel so fortunate that this is what I do for a living. If you want to learn more about me, my approach to counseling, or how I can help, please send me a message. I would love to hear from you!
