About My Clients
Many folx come to work with me to address, understand, and better navigate their anxiety, depression, difficult life transitions, connections with themselves, their relationships, family issues, and to process trauma. I work with people in these areas from a body-mind perspective, meaning that our mental health is not just comprised of our thoughts and feelings, but how we hold these things in our bodies, as well. I want to help you feel more grounded in your life by making sense of it.
My Background and Approach
My goal is to help you understand and, eventually, effectively regulate your emotions by reading your mind and body. In a sense, our work involves rewiring your nervous system and brain by addressing your thoughts, the way you talk to yourself, how you engage with the world around you, as well as the sea inside you - or, your internal world. To do this, I pull from a variety of types of therapy, most notably: somatic-based therapies, parts work (or IFS), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Buddhist Psychology.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I wholeheartedly believe that we get to know ourselves in relationship with others and that the health of our relationships is often reflected in our own well-being (and vice-versa). This is why I dedicate so much of my work in guiding clients to gain clarity on who they are, why they are, and how they are. Having this information moves us to respond with more intentionality and less reactivity, more purpose and less autopilot, thus deepening and enriching the fullness of your life. I am a proud LGBTQIA+ ally and work from a culturally sensitive, anti-oppressive lens to help all feel welcome. It's important that all of my clients feel treated with respect and honesty.
