Have you been feeling stuck? Like you can barely keep your head above water? You are doing it all and somehow it still feels like it’s not good enough. Maybe you find yourself repeating the same patterns and cycles and even though you desperately want to get out, you can’t seem to figure out how. Do you have a history of trauma or emotional wounding that you need support working through. Maybe using addictions to cover up distress? we work as a team to address these issues.
My Background and Approach
I frequently work with first responders, helping professionals, business owners, parents, and people in high stress jobs. Some issues that often come up are: problems in relationships, difficulty managing emotions, impulsivity, ruminating thoughts, shame and issues with self worth, anger, control issues, trauma related symptoms, and addictive behaviors. I integrate various therapy models to create an individualized approach to meet your needs. Most often, I am supporting clients in bringing unconscious information that may be leading to emotional distress and problematic behaviors into conscious awareness as a way to make sense of what is happening and become clear on the best ways to address and manage the issues that are coming up. I believe we are a combination of nature and nurture and as such, we will both work to understand your specific brain and personality while also understanding the life experiences that have made you who you are today.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe you deserve to feel heard, supported, safe, and understood when you enter into therapy. I think it is imperative to establish the relationship first, because I think progress is truly made when we feel both confident and comfortable with the person we are talking to. I work on creating a balance between validation, cheerleading, and support while also being honest and straightforward as I believe you deserve that type of honest support while in care. I am also incredibly inclusive and work hard to understand each person's unique experiences and perspectives. I also believe that behaviors (addictions) are generally the symptoms and it is the goal to figure out what is driving that symptom. I strive to ensure my clients know that they can come into session with anything and they will never be shamed, but rather will be supported and encouraged to understand what is coming up and find clear paths to work through it.
