About My Clients
Do you feel like you’re trying to stay connected to yourself or others but keep getting caught in patterns that leave you feeling uncertain or alone? Maybe you’re overwhelmed by what you’re feeling, unsure of what you need, or know something needs to change but aren’t sure how to get there. I work with individuals, couples, and families who want to better understand themselves, their relationships, and what may be getting in the way of the life and connections they want. I’m here to support you.
My Background and Approach
My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and person-centered. I trained in Integrative Systemic Therapy at The Family Institute at Northwestern University, and I draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Internal Family Systems–tailoring the work to you rather than fitting you into one model. I want to understand what each person or relationship needs and use the approach that best supports them, while bringing my own strengths, perspective, and curiosity into the room. I ask a lot of questions because I genuinely want to understand—not just what happened, but how you're experiencing it and what it means to you. We'll look at what's happening, identify what might be getting in the way, come up with solutions, and try things out. If something doesn't work, we learn from that together and try something different!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I don't believe our struggles happen in a vacuum. Our relationships, families, culture, and life experiences all shape how we see ourselves and how we show up with one another. When we slow down and look at these patterns, we can start to understand not just why we're struggling, but how to actually shift things. I also place a really strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship. I believe that when you feel safe, understood, and able to trust your therapist, there's a foundation for meaningful change. I also believe that change has to be something you're willing to engage in. I can't make you change, and I don't want to tell you what you should do, but I can help you hear yourself more clearly. As a Latina therapist, I'm especially passionate about working with BIPOC and Spanish-speaking clients, and I'm mindful of how culture, identity, family expectations, and larger systems can shape what brings someone to therapy.
