About My Clients
My ideal client is anyone who feels a desire to heal and grow. I believe that we all have the capacity to feel more alive, more "ourselves", and to achieve our creative potentials. Where are you feeling stuck and how can we create space to shift that? I tend to be most effective with clients that are open to somatic (mind/body) techniques. I find that using body awareness helps us to ground and move through difficult moments, increase acceptance of what we are feeling, and rebalance.
My Background and Approach
Therapy can help you to gain insight, shift habits or patterns that are no longer serving you, and be a dedicated place and time to focus on you and what you need. I specialize in working with issues of depression, anxiety, and relationship. I believe that we all have the capacity to continue to heal and grow throughout our lives and to achieve our creative potentials. I hope that our work together can help you to move toward whatever unique creation that is for you. In couples work, some common issues or topics I work with include intimacy and sex, staying connected, overall questions around compatibility, resolving conflict, lack of trust, pre-marital counseling, navigating/exploring consensual non-monogamy and open relationship. In our sessions you can expect that I will listen compassionately, offer reflections, perspectives, and concrete tools, encourage you to trust your own insights, welcome your feedback, maintain and encourage a sense of humor. LGBTQI affirmative.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that human beings are born with many potentials, and like all living things, need care and food in order to grow into these. I think that many of us got some of this from our parents and from society, but other parts may have been missing. I believe that due to unnatural rules and restrictions of society, and blind spots from our often well-meaning parents, most of us did not get a welcoming to meet our experiences, our feelings and ourselves in a complete way. I believe that therapy can be an avenue to heal our pasts and ourselves, that it can help us find back those undeveloped parts and give them a chance to grow, so that we feel more whole.
