I earned my MA in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from John F Kennedy University. Transpersonal literally means "beyond the person", so I've been trained to approach therapy by looking at the "big picture" of how each client has been influenced to be where they are today.
Because I approach therapy through this "big picture" lens, I utilize a variety of different therapies in my work rather than tailoring it to just one. I find that by treating each client as their own unique individual, I am better able to meet them where they're at and utilize interventions that work.
In my work, I like to balance both the art and science of therapy. I like be creative by working experientially and utilizing things like guided imagery and body-based interventions. However, I do also utilize research-based therapies, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Coherence Therapy, Mindfulness-based interventions and more, depending on where the client is at and their interests.
