I am a Licensed Addictions Counselor and have worked with individual addicted from ages 14 to 76+ over a decade in and out of the justice system. I utilize different researched-based practices and educational materials to aid in a successful recovery. I do not work harder than my clients. I meet them where they are on their journey and guide them with support, education, and resources. I am open to working with those involved in the justice system to satisfy probationary/parole terms.
Although I do often utilize CBT as a part of my theoretical orientations, I am eclectic by nature. There is not a "one size fits all" when it comes to therapy. I realized in my years of practice that no single approach will work for everyone; therefore, I tailor my approach based on each person’s needs, symptoms and personality. I believe it is imperative to meet my clients where they are on their journey to their mental health healing and awareness.
I have been involved with Culturally Sensitive Therapy for over a decade. I found interest in it on my journey as a multiethnic individual myself. I have attended workshops during my college years and was a part of Intercultural Community Builders and served as Board President for a short time. This is a program educating individuals grades 7 to college and professionals in a 3-day workshop teaching subject matter on cultural diversity. I want my clients to feel safe, unjudged, and accepted.
Life is filled with adjustments and some find it more difficult to adjust than others. I am here to aid you in understanding you and your place in this world. It is important to understand our coping skills, where they came from, how they manifested and to learn that it is acceptable to learn new coping skills that help you through your journey in the world as it is today.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have worked with many individuals in various stages of life who are dealing with depression that vary from; sexual identity crisis, aging/stages of life, life transitions/adjustments, to relationship issues. Depression will hit nearly all individuals at some stage of life and I meet my clients where they are with knowledge and compassion to aid them with coping skills, understanding and place where they feel heard.
I am a Licensed Addictions Counselor and have worked with adults and adolescents, in and out of the justice system for nearly a decade. Success varies on the client's ability and willingness to comply with treatment recommendations. At times, I will recommend client seek medical assistance in conjunction with therapy to aid in sobriety to help ensure a more successful recovery (e.g., antagonist drug or psychotropic medication(s)).
