About My Clients
I offer a safe and engaging space for those experiencing difficult emotions, in a life transition, in crisis, or simply want to know more about themselves. I believe a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation for healing and growth, so I work to create an empathetically attuned environment that supports self understanding and emotional awareness. The people I work with often struggle with depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, sexuality, gender identity, and relationship issues.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed professional counselor with a background in community mental health, school settings, grief clinics, and private practice. I have worked with a variety of folks and am honored to walk alongside anyone experiencing suffering and hoping to heal. Before private practice, I worked with adults experiencing persistent mental illness co-occurring with substance use disorders and children who have had a traumatic loss in their lives. I work from a psychodynamic and relational orientation- where we pay attention to your past experiences in order to notice old patterns, beliefs about yourself, and points where you may be feeling stuck. We will work together to facilitate new perceptions, new approaches to solving problems, and new potential behaviors.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am passionate about de-stigmatizing mental health and believe everyone can benefit from engaging in therapy. I pay close attention to the ways my clients may have experienced oppression, racism, sexism, and abelism in their lives and how this impacts mental health. I take an active anti-racist, anti-sexist, and anti-ableist approach and am affirming of all identities.
