About My Clients
Mental health is a critical part of life. Counseling is an amazing opportunity to receive support for managing relationships, dealing with stress, coping with difficult experiences, and clarifying values. Healing comes in many different forms and one way is through gaining insight and learning tools for understanding yourself. I hope to explore how community, identity, and cultural experiences shape us and how we move towards positive change. Also Provide Ketamine Assisted Treatment.
My Background and Approach
I have specialized experience in treating trauma through EMDR therapy and provide expertise in spirituality. I also have supported parents through my training in Triple-P (positive parenting program). I am also trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I've also been deeply involved in men's work for over 5 years. <a href="https://www.therapyden.com/therapist/jason-straussman-berkeley-ca" title="Proud Member of TherapyDen" target="_blank"><img src="https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/therapyden1/logos/therapyden-web-badge.png" alt="Proud Member of TherapyDen"></a>
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My work is based on the belief that we all have the capacity for healing. I help people tap into their own sources for healing and teach practice skills to gain insight. I'm firmly rooted in a social justice framework and believe it is important to understand all of our experiences in the context of our community and environment. I believe that as a social worker I am responsible for challenging systems that limit our humanity and see my involvement in community change as integral to my work as a therapist. As part of my commitment to helping people individually, I also maintain a community of accountability and learning where I am able to learn more about my own learning edges, bias, and challenge my culturally assumptions. The greatest part of my work is getting to learn from others and understanding as a white male presenting practitioner about my own privilege and areas of growth. Ultimately, I believe diversity makes me better and so grateful to learn from the people around me.
