About My Clients
I have been successful in the past with all manner of clients through many settings – male, female, transgender, heterosexual, LGBTQ+, in inpatient and outpatient settings. I also really enjoy working with teens and adolescents, since early brain-based interventions help everyone succeed even more in their lifetime. I find that my personality and style seem to fit best with clients who feel they are trapped in a negative routine, , have no one with which to talk, or no way out of suffering.
My Background and Approach
I am a United States Marine Corps veteran of a foreign war (Operation Iraqi Freedom). I have studied mental health and psychology since 2009. Throughout my academic career, I have earned a BA in Psychology from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a MA in Clinical Psychology from University of Central Florida. I have gained experience with most forms of mental health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment in inpatient, outpatient, and highly specialized settings (like neuropsychological assessment, neurotherapy, biofeedback, career counseling, social work, and high-performance training). I am open, straightforward, and honest. I define myself by the USMC values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment. I prefer to act as a mentor, guide, teacher, or instructor to my clients. I bring myself and my history into session, to help foster courage and hope. This also helps me be a “normal person” rather than “a guy in a button up and jacket. I hope to help you help and heal yourself!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I do what I can to remove barriers to mental health treatment and to combat the stigma against discussing and seeking mental health services. I have made it my personal and professional goal to alleviate the most amount of suffering within as many people as possible throughout my lifetime and career. To further these goals when I am able, I facilitate an online mental health support group (Twitch.tv) and provide online videos covering psychology, mindfulness, and neuroscience (YouTube.com). I am an active supporter of To Write Love on Her Arms, and I have done several charity events through my Twitch stream to raise funding and support for TWOLA and International awareness of mental health. I have earned a Navy Achievement Medal for my motivation, dedication, and boundless energy. I try to remove my ego from any situation, no matter how distressing. I also take my own advice, leading a systematic life with my mental health and personal coping put as the first thing after I wake up.
