With the high rates of violence and adverse life events directed at the LGBTQ+ community, my training has centered on helping LGBTQ+ folks to build resilience. I have formal training in treating LGBTQ+ people for a variety of issues, including a LGBT Health internship at Northwestern University, and also a clinical fellowship treating LGBTQ+ Veterans at the Milwaukee Va. I provide individual, group, and couples counseling and am passionate in serving the LGBTQ+ community.

Trauma has also largely been a focus of my training and career. I have experience treating trauma survivors when working with LGBTQ+ Veterans, as well as during my training at the Milwaukee County DBT intensive outpatient unit and women's inpatient unit. I also worked with Veterans at the PTSD clinic in Baton Rouge by providing evidence based therapies.

Unfortunately sexual abuse is not uncommon in our society, ranging from childhood sexual abuse to adult sexual assault. However, resilience and a meaningful life is possible for survivors of abuse; including for men, women, and trans or non-binary folks. I have treated survivors through therapy, and I also researched the revictimization and cognitive complexity of Childhood Sexual Abuse survivors during my training. I am here to provide a safe and affirming space for you to heal.

Trauma has also largely been a focus of my training and career. I have experience treating trauma survivors when working with LGBTQ+ Veterans, as well as during my training at the Milwaukee County DBT intensive outpatient unit and women's inpatient unit. I also worked with Veterans at the PTSD clinic in Baton Rouge by providing evidence based therapies. PTSD can be debilitating, yet there is hope and there are effective treatments to help you feel safe and heal from your traumas.

CBT is one of the standard and well researched therapies that has emerged in the mental health community. It is the basis of many additional therapies as well, like Cognitive Processing Therapy. I have formal training in CBT through graduate school classes and providing supervised therapy, as well as utilizing CBT throughout my career. CBT is very helpful in guiding people to create new outlooks on life and past events, and has been an invaluable tool for my growth as a therapist.

I utilize DBT frequently in my therapy style as it can be so beneficial in helping people find their voice in this challenging world. I have provided DBT to people with Borderline Personality Disorder, and also to a people with a wide range of issues such as trauma, mood disorders, and psychosis. I also have supervised experience teaching the principles of DBT in both individual and group settings.

ACT is another invaluable tool from my experience as a therapist, as it is built upon some of the foundations of CBT, yet also takes therapy in some refreshing new directions regarding values and thought defusion. I have acquired direct supervised training in providing ACT in group therapy, as well as supervised training for individual therapy with ACT. I incorporate ACT into my therapy approach to help my clients cope with distress and learn new ways to move forward with their lives.
