About My Clients
We work with adults, adolescents (12 and up), and couples living with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship strain, or major life transitions. Many of the people who reach out are capable and busy, carrying the quiet sense that a high-functioning life no longer feels like their own. Some want to understand old patterns; others want steadier relationships or a clearer sense of what they need. Sessions are available in English, Spanish, and Farsi.
My Background and Approach
Inner Compass is a group practice led by Nora Katz, LCSW, trained at Columbia University. We lead with depth: rather than only managing symptoms, we look at the patterns underneath what brings you in, then adapt the approach to you. Our clinicians draw on psychodynamic, relational, and attachment-based therapy, IFS (Internal Family Systems), somatic work, EMDR, and EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), with CBT when structure helps. Associate therapists are registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and work under Nora's clinical supervision. Sessions are 50 minutes, in person in San Diego and by secure video anywhere in California. Fees are $175 to $275 depending on the clinician, with sliding scale options. We accept United/Optum, Cigna, and Aetna and provide superbills for out-of-network care. Start with a free 15-minute phone consultation, and we will suggest the clinician who seems like the best fit.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We believe therapy works best when it is unhurried, collaborative, and honest. Feeling comfortable with your therapist matters more than almost anything else, so if the first fit is not right, we help you find someone who is.
