About My Clients

Many of my clients come in describing a combination of internal distress and relationship concerns. They may be part of a partnership or single, experiencing a loss or a change, parenting or maybe a youth. Many describe current concerns around depression or anxiety. I work with children, youth, couples/relationships, young adults and family systems. I work with people from a beautifully diverse palette of the human experience; culturally, ethnically, sexually, mixed and diverse people.

My Background and Approach

My background and training is all in trauma, both the 'capital T and lowercase t', whatever that means... I have been trained in three post-master's trauma healing modalities; EMDR, Somatic Experiencing and NeuroAffective Touch. All modalities address the experience of trauma from the physiological lens and I bring the relational piece. Unless you had a good tangle with a bike or the cement or a car, (single case incident of trauma ((lower case t)) ) most traumas are Relational Harms. Thus, in session we address how the event shaped your nervous system (hyper or hypo states) and how that may affect you in relationship with others and yourself. This includes any impacts you may experience intimately in relationships. I hold a certificate in Trauma Informed Sex Positive therapy that brings together two worlds that are often apart in theory and practice.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in systems, both in how they can work to support or harm our well being. We are all a part of a system, whether we want to be or not; individually, from a family, in a community, a school, a place of worship, a society, a voting bloc, a world citizen. I believe an individual can make a positive impact in the world, I believe the micro affects the macro as much as the macro affects the micro. Therapy is part of the micro, we as individuals on a path towards something better and bringing that to our loved ones and greater communities. Easing and stopping inter-generational trauma, building the foundation for healing and repair to emerge and feeling joy and prosperity can come alive, not for the few but for the masses. I believe in our capacity to heal and do better for ourselves and others.
