About My Clients
The journey that got you here was undoubtedly a tough one. If you're here, maybe you're tired of the constant push & pull of the ED cycle. Maybe you also feel overwhelmed by emotions that feel too difficult and you're not sure how to cope with them. I'd love to work on finding new ways to move forward. The clients I am most "in my element" with are teens and young adults. When working with teens in particular, I also involve parents and explore how they can help at home when meals are difficult.
My Background and Approach
I have worked in the PHP level of care for eating disorders, where I utilized therapeutic models of DBT, ACT, CBT, and EFFT. I have worked with groups, individuals, and families, and I have loved getting to know my clients and build therapeutic relationships that foster healing. My approach is relational, strengths-focused, and compassionate. I will offer evidence-based skills to help you cope through urges and heavy emotions, and I'll ask questions to dig deeper into areas you're struggling with. I'll also ask you about your favorite bands, your friends, or what book you're reading. I believe having a good relationship with your therapist really does matter! My approach may look different depending on how familiar you are with different skills and terms, as well as what you are needing from a therapist.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe recovery is possible, and my own journey and struggles with food, body, and self-acceptance have shown me that. Some of my core values are loyalty, nature, safety, peace, and creativity. When I'm not working, I'm likely at a coffee shop, a greenhouse, or playing with my golden retriever, Atlas! Some of my hobbies are art, music, reading, and being outdoors.
