About My Clients

Many of the people that find their way to me are committed to growth and self-work. They may be the healthiest person in their family of origin and working to make sense of their chaotic childhood. They want a better life for themselves, but self-doubt and fear often get in the way of pursuing the kind of life and connection they desire. The teens and kids I work with tend to be bright, anxious, and caring. They are curious about themselves and others, and want to create good in the world.

My Background and Approach

I assist my clients in finding their own strengths, resiliency, and in discovering what is getting in the way of connection and happiness. I work well with people who are experiencing complex relationships / family dynamics, trauma, anxiety, and stress. I work particularly well with those who have experienced sexual trauma. I work well with kids and teens experiencing high anxiety and perfectionism. With younger kids, I utilize play-centered techniques to strengthen emotional expression, communication, and help them process complex experiences. With teens, we work on strengthening self-care, boundaries, and learning new ways to cope with and alleviate anxiety. I use a personality tool called the Enneagram to help empower people to see their true selves. Using this tool in therapy helps my clients see not only their strengths and gifts, but also how they could be making life harder for themselves.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in therapy. I've had several of my own therapists (still do!) throughout my life and the impact of being seen and not judged in my darkest hours has been amazingly healing. I used to believe that change was not possible for me and that I just had to tough it out through life. Therapy helped me to challenge this and to begin the process of learning how to love and take care of myself. I believe that everyone can have this and I love helping people find it in themselves. I practice therapy from the belief that all people are good and all people are worthy. I consider myself a feminist and I believe that institutions, societal norms and inherent sexism, racism, and gender bias create oppression and barriers. It is my goal in therapy to create a space where you can feel seen, respected, and supported.

I have experience with the following
  • Agnosticism
  • Atheism
  • Buddhism
  • Christianity
  • Multifaith
