About My Clients
If you are struggling with anxiety or depression, work stress, relationship conflict, trauma, or LGBTQ+ issues, I can help you understand what's going on, and learn practical skills to improve your life. If you are new to therapy, I can tailor to your needs and help you get comfortable in talking and finding solutions to your current issue. If you have been in therapy for a while and looking for a therapist to do more in-depth personal work, I'm the right person for you.
My Background and Approach
I earned my PhD degree in counseling psychology at Iowa State University, and completed my pre-doctoral internship at Stanford University. I received my postdoctoral training at California College of the Arts, as well as the Native American Health Center. I had the privilege working with clients from a variety of backgrounds. I have extensive experience in working with stress, depression, grief and loss, attachment and relationship issues, existential/spiritual crisis, and minority/immigrant issues. I am skilled in a variety of evidence-based psychotherapy approaches and interventions, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy(EFT), and Interpersonal Psychotherapy(IPT). My clients often describe me as compassionate, perceptive, and collaborative.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
While I may sit back and listen to you talk (and sometimes that is very much needed in the moment), I can also be honest, straightforward, and blunt with you about what I think as we are working together. I am comfortable sharing with you my thoughts, reactions, and feedback as a therapist, in order to help you understand the situation better, or encourage you to take the necessary steps towards positive change.
