About My Clients
My work has been primarily focused on issues related to trauma, substance use, anxiety and identity concerns. I love working with individuals who are part of the LGBTQIA community, and work with both teenagers and adults. My focus as a therapist is to help clients recognize their own strengths, navigate life's challenges, and to feel empowered.
My Background and Approach
I am dually licensed, with my License in Professional Clinical Counseling (LPCC) and a License in Alcohol and Drug Counseling (LADC), both in the state of MN. I approach therapy through both a trauma-informed and harm-reduction perspective, and believe in person-centered care. I tend to have a warm and gentle approach, holding space for you to bring your whole self into the session. As a therapist, I am empathetic without judgment, and want you to feel validated and seen. I believe that therapy works best when there’s a strong therapeutic alliance and active collaboration between therapist and client, and I invite feedback during each stage. My goal is for you to recognize your own strengths, help you navigate life's challenges and make the changes you would like for yourself.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Everyone has a different lived experience, and I want to provide a safe space for you be able to bring your whole self into the session. I recognize that at times, our overall health can be impacted by experiences with the broken systems around us, and both mental and chemical health concerns can be a direct result from living within these systems. Sometimes mental health concerns can be a result of how we learn from our environments, and not necessary because there is something "wrong" with oneself. I want to help you be in charge of your own story, and to help you gain greater understanding on yourself and the experiences that may have impacted you.
