About My Clients

I support people who have experienced self doubt, pain, and trauma begin to heal so that they can thrive in their lives. Together we break the cycle of anxiety and disconnection. There will be compassion and some laughs along the way. You will find your hope and your relationships will improve.

My Background and Approach

I'm originally from Massachusetts, where I received my Master's in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from Assumption College in 2006. In my years of counseling experience, I've worked in variety of treatment settings, including community mental health, outpatient programs supporting individuals with both mental health and substance misuse disorders, and higher education. Prior to moving to California, I spent over six years working at Worcester Polytechnic Institute as both a counselor and later Associate Director of the Student Development & Counseling Center. There my responsibilities included counseling college students and overseeing all outreach and prevention education (substance abuse, suicide and sexual assault prevention). I've seen amazing healing happen with clients. I made the decision to go in to private practice so that I would be able to support individuals without the limitations of academic or program schedules.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that everyone deserves therapy. Many people grew up believing they should "pull themselves up by their bootstraps" or "suck it up" when it came to personal and mental health struggles. It's time to end that stigma. Being vulnerable and seeking support from loved ones and professionals is courageous. Everyone deserves time to be validated and supported through therapy. I am dedicated to supporting survivors of sexual and domestic violence and to reducing stigma associated with mental health struggles. I’ve worked on grants through SAMSHA for suicide prevention and through the DOJ OVW to prevent dating & sexual violence on college campuses. I served on the Board of Directors for a rape crisis and domestic violence survivor support program. I support the Black Lives Matter Movement, am LGBTQ affirming, socially liberal, and am a part of San Diego's Trauma Response Network of EMDR Therapists. My hobbies include exercise, cooking, going to movies, and listening to live music
