Unprocessed trauma and shock can leave one feeling stuck and alone. I am passionate about helping people improve their lives, move through difficult transitions, improve skills for navigating life's challenges and change maladaptive relational and behavior patterns.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from Boston University. I spent the first six years of my career doing medical social work at hospitals. I transitioned to doing individual outpatient psychotherapy in 2016. I provide adults 18+ with individual therapy. I specialize in treating complex trauma, complex grief, anxiety, panic, depression, and early attachment wounding. I primarily practice transformational neuroscience-based modalities that utilize the brain’s neuroplasticity to foster healing; these modalities include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR). Additional modalities I am trained in and use are Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Circle of Security Parent Reflection Model.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
"The healing of trauma is a natural process that can be accessed through an inner awareness of the body" ~ Book: Waking The Tiger by Peter Levine. I strongly believe in the effectiveness and power of therapy. We all have the power to heal. I have had my own personal journey of healing from both simple and complex trauma experiences. These experiences have led me to relentlessly seek healing modalities that transform and heal rather than just manage symptoms.
