Clients might come in alone or together to discuss problems that seem "unfixable." I think every relationship deserves a therapy space, even if divorce has been determined as the only possible outcome. COUPLES : We always start with assessments. My approach is step by step, allowing clients to list core issues that need to be addressed. INDIVIDUALS: Clients who are right in the throws of separation or considering that process need support and guidance from someone who has helped others.

Are you confused about what your faith looks like in the wake of an unexpected event? I have over ten years of experience working with couples and individuals in the Christian context struggle with the ideas of God, suffering, life, and death.

Anxiety is telling us something that is going on, something deeper. We may have felt some anxiety our whole lives. Anxiety is the highest named symptom from first time clients because life can be stressful and we naturally respond with an anxious state. I help clients learn tools to address the anxiety in the here and now, but I also help clients look at making systemic change so that they have less anxiety in the days ahead.

In the room, I teach people how to tune into their body and use simple calming breathing techniques like deep breathing, meditation, guided imagery, and muscle relaxation. I encourage clients to learn to incorporate every day tools in order to teach them basic meditation practices. Depending on the client, my resources for them to use may be in the medium of books, smartphone app, or online guided meditations.

I am excellent at using EFT in the room because I went to Fuller Theological Seminary and at the time there were few other couples specific and evidence based interventions, it was one of great discussion and interest to me. I worked with Jim Furrow, LMFT, an early and continued expert in the field to learn more about the method. EFT allows clients to have their deep pain heard and quickly get to how clients make meaning of marriage and past traumas.

The world changed dramatically when the COVID-19 pandemic began, impacting our ability to meet in person. This changed our interactions with institutions we considered ourselves to be a part of, including religious communities. The work I have done since March of 2020 has been in part to discover if the old way of relating to religion and spirituality is still working for clients. Some have found it helpful to take some time away from religious institutions but want help finding their way back.
