About My Clients
I work mainly with trauma, anxiety, depression, and PTSD utilizing EMDR and CBT. Trauma work requires patience and it can be a long process. My clients are motivated to do the work as they know it will benefit them even though it may seem uncomfortable at first. My clients trust me to hold space for them and also allow me to guide them to meet their goals. My clients are not afraid to tell me if something isn't working in their treatment as they know that we are a team into their healing.
My Background and Approach
I have 5 years of experience working with clients individuals, couples, and families. I am trained in EMDR. I also have some training in Gottman and Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy for my work with couples. I also utilize CBT, DBT, and ACT in my work with clients. I incorporate these different approaches because there is no one-size-fits-all for therapy. I also believe that a person can never have too many tools to use to get them through the day-to-day of life. My style is conversational and collaborative.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe everyone has the ability to change, grow, and heal from their experiences. Not everyone knows what to do to start the process. My job as a therapist is to help you achieve growth and healing with whatever you need help with. Negative thoughts can be replaced and behaviors can be changed. I grew up with caregivers who were emotionally unavailable, I also grew up experiencing sexual trauma. Through my own therapy journey, I have learned to overcome the negative beliefs I had about myself. I have learned and am still learning how to not let the trauma affect my present life. Personal growth is a life long process.
