Traditional models of mental health care often transfer societal problems onto the individual. This can make it feel like there is something wrong with us or that we are to blame for our pain and suffering. But you are not alone. This is not your fault. And with the right support, you can and will feel better. It might not be easy. It might mean making some major life changes. My Background and Approach
I believe connection is the foundation of healing, and strong therapeutic relationships begin from a place of compassion and mutual respect. You are the expert of your mind and body, and I am an experienced partner when stress and mental illness get in the way of a healthy and joyful life. I take a holistic, neuroscience-informed, and integrated approach to mental health treatment, combining a thorough medical assessment with open-minded listening, psychotherapy, lifestyle interventions, and brain-based medication management to help individuals heal, grow, and work toward authentic, value-driven lives.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I currently serve as a member of the “Brain Trust,” a small group of National Neuroscience Curriculum Initiative (NNCI) scholars who write, educate, and advocate for mental health equity using evidence-based neuroscience and innovative education strategies (my favorite of which was publishing a board game designed to reduce the risk of depression and suicide among doctors in training). My areas of contribution focus on women’s mental health, student populations, and equity in medicine. In my free time I love traveling, rock climbing, skiing, and playing board games with my incredibly supportive husband. I also enjoy eating sushi, baking (very messily) with my rambunctious three year old, and trying to find belly buttons with my barely toddling one year old.
