Edwin Dilone

I’m a licensed psychotherapist providing in-person mental health services to men in Jacksonville, FL as well as tele-mental health services throughout the state of Florida. I have extensive experience in working with men who survived traumatic experiences or who are trying to recover from past negative experiences such as childhood trauma, traumatic events in adulthood, divorce, grief, toxic relationships, and more. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I bring professional wisdom and experience working with men from different backgrounds and walks of life. I know directly the territory of being a man facing depression and anxiety, having found a way to access my own gifts of therapeutic healing both for me and for others. I have extensive experience working with couples and working individually with men on building healthy relationships.

My way of working is focused, yet responsive to my client's needs. My methods are rooted in a careful assessment of the critical issues facing today's man at work, home, and/or social interactions in general. I use the structure of the therapy to frame the issues and psychosocial forces affecting my client. The shared experience in therapy provides an increment of knowledge that was not previously available to the client and offers new tools for the client's next steps in life. For me, the uniqueness of the client and the relationship we develop at a particular point in time is key. I emphasize my client's unconscious repetition of past patterns of relating to others. I believe the therapeutic relationship is fundamental to the healing power of therapy. Certainly, managed care and therapy-by-protocol continue to devalue the therapeutic relationship. My past and present clients continue to attest to how the therapeutic relationship we developed was fundamental.
