About My Clients
Therapy is a helpful way of finding yourself in the fast paced life that we live on a day to day basis. It is a powerful tool in discovering better ways to cope with life’s problems, emotions, relationships, communication, and everything in between. I've worked in different settings including community based military/veteran programs, Universities, and shelters with children as young as 10 years old and adults 70+ years old.
My Background and Approach
Everyone’s story is important because everyone is vastly different from the next person. There can never be one answer to every problem, just as there could never be the same solution for every person. I make sure to tailor every session to what is currently happening in your life. I also take the time to understand your values in life, which all affect how you will use therapy in real life situations. I utilize theories based in cognitive psychology, which is a fancy way of saying how you think about your life and thought process when you are simply being yourself. Additionally, I use mindfulness based approaches to help deal with the stress of difficult issues.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I emphasize the importance of one’s culture, values, life philosophy, and experiences while providing therapy to clients. My counseling philosophy is based on accepting responsibility for one's own present and future. The aim of therapy is to foster independence in my clients in order to live a full life on one's own. You are the expert of your life and only you can say what your goals are in therapy and life. Therefore, we work as a team to build a plan that fits your needs. I believe that we are all responsible for our present and future. Let us take this important step together in getting control of your life in a safe, confidential, and healthy way!
