About My Clients
Potential clients for me may be experiencing symptoms of Anxiety, Depression, or Burnout. A history of Trauma or Substance Use may have you feeling stuck in the mud, or perhaps there are pieces of your identity such as ADHD, Autism, Spiritual, or Gender/Sexual identity that have posed their own set of challenges in feeling accepted in the world. Whatever you may be experiencing, it’s important to remember: you are worth the effort to create positive change.
My Background and Approach
Growing up in rural Tennessee, I have always felt a strong desire to do my part in supporting the community around me. I witnessed the effects that mental health issues can have on self as well as family, peers, and those who continue to try to do what it takes to get by in less than ideal conditions. I have worked in clinical research settings focusing on addiction, residential settings for adolescents, outpatient group settings for addiction, and outpatient settings for people of all ages to come to heal and grow towards the life they desire. My experiences help me to recognize the value of diversity and it is my hope to work with every client in a way that feels personalized and supportive of who they are and the value they bring to us all. I utilize many therapeutic orientations to focus on understanding the different areas of life that give us meaning so we can feel encouraged and confident in striving for the goals that accomplish a sense of fulfillment and place in the world.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In therapeutic settings, I believe that it is important that both client and counselor get to know each other in order to be able to confidently create a plan of treatment that works for the client. Potential clients should know that I have always viewed wellness from a holistic approach. My background in athletics taught the importance of persistence and daily growth, no matter how small. Connections to family and peers sparked a love for community and service to all people. Diligence in academic settings fostered my comfortability in utilizing evidenced based practices, and my sense of spirituality has taught me the beauty of the journey. I believe that we all have a set of experiences or values that help teach us the foundation blocks of what a healthy, happy life may be for us. I value discovering and solidifying these so that every person who comes to me for help feels confident and empowered to build on their own strengths in the face of challenge.
