We're experienced therapists who help individuals in many stages of life and couples resolve their issues to better their relationships.
Psychologist in Tampa, FL
I work with couples that are dating, engaged, or married for a little while or for many years. Issues of communication, trust, lack of intimacy are what couples usually bring to the session. I position myself as the "relationship therapist". As a doctor, I'll work in making your relationship better. For that, I'll use many different skills acquired from different types of therapy: talk therapy, CBT, ACT, EFT, Mindfulness, Gottman, etc.
Anxiety issues can be as little as being worried about giving a professional or academic presentation, to the creeping symptoms of a panic attack. Social anxiety also keeps people from living a regular life. During treatment, we will talk about your biases, your family biases, do a little of psychoeducation, and work in diminishing the symptoms of anxiety with many types of skills practiced in session.
Reproductive Psychology is my microniche. I work with women (and men) going through chronic infertility, pregnancy or baby loss, postpartum depression, and give support throughout the surrogacy or adoption process. Perinatal mental health encompasses all that one suffers about trying to be a parent.
One can learn about what are the triggers from the past that keeps hovering his/her life right now, but cannot do anything to change what happened. One cannot know exactly what the future holds. What one can do is to be connected to the right-here - right-now - which are the principles of mindfulness. Mindfulness helps people to be grounded, and be gentle to themselves and others. Mindfulness is used in conjunction with the integrative psychodynamic approach.
Gottman therapy is used for couples only - here we learn a new way to communicate, improve intimacy, learn positives and negatives in the relationship and how to draw goals individually and goals for the relationship. An online questionnaire is used to help sort out the strengths and the areas that need work.
Talk therapy is the bulk of what we'll do in the session. Expect your therapist to be a little more dynamic, challenge you, help you see other points of view different from your lenses, and give feedback on how you present yourself in session.
