My Background and Approach
My clinical expertise is based in my passion to help trauma survivors affected by domestic violence, sexual assault or abuse, critical incidents, and loss. I specialize in working with adults struggling with symptoms of ongoing or prolonged stress, anxiety, depression, as well as acculturation and parenting matters. Along with Psychology degree and Transactional Analysis counselor status obtained in Europe, I graduated with my Masters of Arts in Marital and Family Therapy from California School of Psychology -Alliant International University in San Diego. I have been certified in EMDR Therapy by EMDR International Association and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing through ICISF. As I was born and raised in Yugoslavia, I am fluent in Serbian, Croatian, and Bosnian language. I find that my personal experience with immigration, marriage, and motherhood, as well as my spiritual beliefs, influence my therapy style and reflect in a soft strength that nurtures and inspires my clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Before clients tell me that there is "something wrong" with them, I want to hear what happened to them. I strongly believe in clients' personal capacity to heal and grow. I witnessed many times shift in a therapy room happening faster when clients feel safe, accepted, and appreciated. Psychotherapy process is not about labeling symptoms and getting rid of them. Psychotherapy is a beautiful art of healing, self-exploration, self-acceptance, and personal growth. I know you can heal, and you will.
