I have 6 years of experience working with individuals needing to increase and grow in the areas surrounding anxiety which have including my working in a psychiatric hospital and doing case management with those experiencing high rates of hospitalization and incarceration. Through each of these settings I’ve worked to get to know individuals, hone in on their strengths and work to create coping skills to combat anxiety and other stressors.

I am an out gay male and many years of experience working with those on the cusp of exploring their sexual orientation and talking through the painful parts of this transition. As someone who has gone through this experience myself, I have also learned lots of different resources and ways to combat the different struggles those in the LGBTQ+ community face.

I have spent the last four years working in private practice with children, teenagers and adults working through their gender identity whether this is starting the process of changing their name, beginning hormone therapy, or working through the changes happening in the individual’s body. This is a part of my experience I’m excited to continue working with as I have continued to grow and enhance my understanding of the trans population and the challenges they face.

CBT is my preferred therapeutic modality as I have used this one most successfully with individuals in ongoing therapy. While this is not the modality for everyone, a large amount of those I have worked with prefer it with the work done in between sessions. I prefer to let individuals agree to what homework between sessions feels most effective for them and this will usually vary depending on the person.

As of 2022, I became trained in Eye Movement, Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which has become an area I have continued to learn and expand in my experiences treating. I became interested in this modality of treatment after the many years I have seen and helped my clients process their trauma. Some traumas are too difficult to simply speak about and therefore using EMDR can help people reduce signs and symptoms of anxiety and panic or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Harm Reduction therapy is one of my favorite approaches to working with someone. It is most commonly known as the safest way to engage with drugs and alcohol whether that be through using with someone else, or setting boundaries around the ways you may use. I find the aspect of preserving ones safety extremely beneficial even when someone may be seeing me about something in no way related to drug or alcohol use.
