Grief and loss do not have to mean the death of a loved one. They can be divorce, loss of a job, or even death of someone that hurt you. All loss hurts. After the death of my 13 year old daughter, I decided to become a certified grief mediator. Pain from loss does not change in size but our way of coping with it does.

We have all thought, am I a good enough parent, am I doing the right thing. The truth of it is, none of us know exactly what we are doing. Each child is different than the others. Which means they need different tools and approaches than others. My favorite quote is "do not judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree." Each child is exceptional in their own way.

PTSD often gets misdiagnosed as ADHD, depression, or anxiety. Truth is, it is all three and sometimes more. Our bodies learn to fight everything around us. It takes work to retrain your body and mind that you are safe. Often leaving us feeling powerless. But knowledge is power.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychological treatment that has been demonstrated to be effective for a range of problems including depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol and drug use problems, marital problems, eating disorders, and severe mental illness. Numerous research studies suggest that CBT leads to significant improvement in functioning and quality of life.

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is especially effective for people who have difficulty managing and regulating their emotions. DBT has proven to be effective for treating and managing a wide range of mental health conditions.

The goals of Gottman Method Couples Therapy are to disarm conflicting verbal communication; increase intimacy, respect, and affection; remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy; and create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship.
