About My Clients
I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside teens, young adults, women, and trans folks through difficult seasons of life, including anxiety, trauma, ADHD, depression, grief, life transitions, and perinatal and postpartum challenges.
My Background and Approach
For 20 years, my passion is to nurture growth within people of all ages, backgrounds, and unique struggles. This passion sent me on a journey working with LGBTQIA Street Youth, survivors of intimate partner violence, mental health residential treatment facilities for children and teens, as a Youth Development Volunteer with the Peace Corps in Peru, as a School Counselor, and now as a therapist at Brunell Counseling. Since each person's healing is unique, my approach is an eclectic blend of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Expressive Art Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindful Self-Compassion, Attachment-based Therapy, and other mindfulness-based and somatic techniques. I understand that safety needs to be earned. I prioritize creating a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship in which a person can question, create boundaries, and foster curiosity and compassion.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I welcome and support all people, including but not limited to people of all races, ethnicities, cultural backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, body sizes, and abilities. I commit to ongoing social justice, anti-oppression, and anti-discrimination trainings and education. I believe you already carry important strengths and wisdom within you, and therapy can help you reconnect with them. I embrace neurodiversity and often think of our differences as our gifts. Together, we can approach life with curiosity and courage, try new ways of coping and regulating, learn from setbacks, and celebrate growth along the way.
