About My Clients
In my practice I tend to focus on trauma as well as neurodivergence, and while this may seem like a curious combination, it is primarily due to my own life experiences in both of these areas that help me understand and relate on a level that others might not be able to. While relatability is not the only thing that matters, I know it can go a long way when you know someone is beside you, trudging with you through the stresses of daily life.
My Background and Approach
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from UCLA, and a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Brandman University. I have experience in both community and private practice settings; working with clients who have struggled with the impact of trauma; both complex and episodic, depression, anxiety, neurodivergence, OCD, and a myriad of other problems. In order to help clients through their journey, I tend to use Narrative Therapy; however, I will often borrow skills that are found within Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT). My affinities tend to lie in the areas of postmodernism, the notion that collectivist truths require questioning, even if these truths reside within ourselves. Truths that have not been questioned or viewed through a lens of healthy skepticism. Truths that continue to keep us tied to our shame, our self-denial, and at times, self-hatred.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My personal philosophy on therapy, as well as in life, is that nothing is fixed or static. While we tend to love routines, our opinions, and viewpoints on the world; we tend to get stuck in these places without even realizing that we got stuck to begin with. This tends to become a problem when these fixed beliefs are about ourselves, especially when they are beliefs that we aren’t enough. Based on my experience, education, and training; I have made a commitment to not just tell, but show you that you are enough, and have a lot more to offer than you have ever given yourself credit for. If this isn’t what you struggle with, that’s not a problem! Whatever reason you decided to embark on this journey, I am here to walk with you.
