I previously worked at our local sexual assault and domestic violence centers as an intake worker and case manager. I also served as the lead coordinator of our county's local anti-human trafficking team, providing case management and crisis services for clients who had experienced trafficking. I've supported over hundreds of people, of all backgrounds, in healing after abuse and trauma. As an abuse survivor myself, I also have a special place in my heart for this kind of work.
I have been working with folks on the spectrum since 2010 in a variety of environments - group homes, crisis centers, schools, and in-home, supporting people in a variety of ways. I believe in the quote by Dr. Steven Shore, "If you've met one person with autism, you've met one person with autism" - every single one of us is completely unique and has individualized wants and needs. From my work, I see the lack of services for people with autism AND mental health issues and seek to fill this gap.
