About My Clients
My clients have often struggled to work well with therapists who don't understand who they are, who they love, and how they live their lives. I work with queer, trans, gender non-conforming, kinky, ethically non-monogamous individuals, couples, and relational systems who want to get to work in therapy, not spend sessions educating their therapist about their identities or being questioned about their choices.
My Background and Approach
I'm not just a therapist who enjoy working with queer folks and sexuality issues - I'm an expert. I attended a clinical sexology program at Widener University and received my Masters of Social Work and my Masters of Education in Human Sexuality. (Widener isn't a household name, but it's one of the only accredited sex therapy programs in the United States.) I also have extensive Dialectical Behavioral Therapy training, which helps me help my clients even better when things get tough. This means that if you're dealing with it, I've probably seen it before. It can be a comfort to know that you won't be the first client that your therapist sees with a specific identity, lifestyle, challenge, or background. I believe strongly in warm, non-judgmental care for all of my clients, no matter who they are and what they've gone through. I am out-of-network with all insurance providers, but I can provide a superbill for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am an openly queer, non-binary, and polyamorous individual, which informs how I approach both therapy and the world. I believe that we each need to question the scripts that have been handed to us and discard a lot of the noise that is holding us back. I work hard to be anti-racist, anti-capitalist, pro sex worker, and fat positive. I believe that most of what we're told about "health" comes from capitalist and white supremacist ideals that need to be unlearned, and that "health" means something very different for each of us.
