About My Clients
My ideal client is a parent with a new baby or very young children. I specialize in perinatal, post-partum and early childhood and family mental health. I enjoy working with parents who are coping with depression and/or anxiety, trauma related to their own youth or trauma related to starting their own family (fertility, difficult pregnancy, birth trauma, NICU, etc.), and parents who want additional support figuring out how to be the best mom or dad they can be.
My Background and Approach
I have been helping parents raise healthy and happy families for 15 years. I use several approaches to do this including individual or couples therapy, family therapy, parent-infant/child therapy and group work. I help parents address their own traumas using different interventions, including EMDR, which in return allows them to give their children the safe and nurturing relationship they need and deserve. I work with very young children (0-5) to support their healthy social/emotional development so they may have the best start in life. I believe that providing a safe place for you to be your true and authentic self, to remove the mask, and receive the support you need is a part of being a great parent.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that all people have a right to feel safe, wanted and loved. These beliefs about ourselves begin the day we are born and are formed in our earliest experiences as infants and young children. By helping parents be the best person they can be they are positioned to be the best parent they can be. Being human is hard enough, but parenting, now that is hard work! Being a young child is very hard work too! Learning how to nurture yourself, heal your past and understand your child'd needs are the building blocks of being a great parent and raising an amazing human. Giving your child the gift of a safe and nurturing relationship as well as the space to grow up is critical to their healthy development. I believe that none of us can do this alone and the more support and knowledge you have the more successful and happy you, and your child will be.
