About My Clients
I consider myself to be an OCD interruptor, positive personal intimacy advocate, and healthy masculinity ally. I help people struggling with OCD feel empowered and better manage obsessions and compulsions; I support those with personal intimacy issues, especially problematic porn use, to feel capable of change and to live more in line with their values; and I work with men to break free from unhealthy societal expectations and feel more authentically connected with others and themselves.
My Background and Approach
I take a humanistic, strengths-focused, and evidence-based approach to my work, utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Above all, I try to show up as an authentic person and meet you wherever you're at. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from Boston University and spent several years as a photojournalist before I earned my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Regis University. I’ve worked in a range of mental health settings, including a residential substance abuse treatment center, a small private group practice, an inpatient psychiatric hospital, and a community mental health agency helping people with severe and persistent mental illness. These diverse experiences have helped clarify my strengths and interests, which I hope I can share with you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The areas and issues I focus on share a unique trait: they can feel difficult to talk about and are often highly stigmatized or misunderstood, despite being much more common than most might think. I work hard to normalize caring for and talking about mental health struggles and mental wellness, as I believe that breaking down stigma and opening up honest conversations can have a positive ripple effect on how we treat others and ourselves. When I’m not seeing clients, I head to the mountains to hike, bike, ski, or just set up a hammock and relax. I also love working on (and sometimes even fixing) cars, finding new music, hanging out with my dog, and getting lost in a good book.
