About My Clients
My therapeutic focus includes: relationships & intimacy, men's issues, depression, anxiety, crisis intervention, post-traumatic stress, anger management, thought disorder, spirituality, chronic illness, terminal disease, bereavement, LGBT issues, HIV/AIDS, life & career transitions, communication, managing stress, time mastery, setting and maintaining priorities, etc.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Therapist and offer psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, families, and adolescents. I earned my Psy.D., in Marriage & Family Therapy from Ryokan College and my MA in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University – both located in Los Angeles. In addition to my degrees in Clinical/Counseling Psychology, I hold a Master’s Degree in Philosophy/Theology from WTS, Dubuque, IA. I have also worked as a therapist with the Adult Intensive Outpatient Program at Sharp Mesa Vista Psychiatric Hospital for fourteen years and have extensive experience with chronic mental illness. I served as the President of the San Diego Chapter of CA Marriage & Family Therapists, from 2006-09. I am currently a clinical member of the State CAMFT Organization and AAMFT - American Association of Marriage & Family Therapists. In San Diego, been a member of the Greater San Diego Business Association (GSDBA).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My philosophy and therapeutic orientation are an integration of a variety of counseling theories: Mindfulness-Based counseling processes including, but not limited to: Client Centered Humanistic-Existential, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psycho-dynamic, Spiritual Counseling, New Narrative, etc. These methods, as well as others are used as the basis for counseling to promote and encourage growth through increased self-awareness, enhanced relationships, expression of feelings, purposeful living, effective communication, conflict resolution and spiritual growth.
