I have a passion for working with new moms and dads, grief and loss, chronic illness and big transitions.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Austin, TX
I have a passion for peripartum moms and dads. I co-founded the Pregnancy and Postpartum Health Alliance of Texas (PPHA) in 2010 and have worked diligently to ensure that moms and dads can easily find high-quality, affordable services in the Austin area. I developed and managed the Doula Voucher Program for PPHA, and was inspired to train as a doula . I currently manage the PPHA Psychiatric Voucher program. I worked with Postpartum Support International for 4 years as the Austin Coordinator.
I have worked in hospice for over 15 years. As the Doug's House program coordinator, I had the privilege of managing a home for people dying of HIV/AIDS for 3 years. They and their families allowed me into their hearts at one of the most difficult times of life, and it continues to inspire me in the work that I do. Though life's transitions can be gut-wrenching and traumatic, they also offer us a unique way of growing and healing old wounds.
Big life transitions can bring us fear, anxiety, shame, uncertainty...but also fulfillment and inspiration. Whether you are experiencing a new birth, the loss of a loved one, a change in your relationships, a job change or a move- these times offer us the opportunity to face our fears and to grow into a new life. My work with clients who have chronic illness, HIV/AIDS, peripartum anxiety/depression, or on hospice has inspired me to continue help people going through transitions.
