About My Clients
What might need to be accepted, changed, shifted, released, or tended to for empowerment or autonomy to be felt or be embraced? I have discovered, that in order to make a change in one’s life, one must first accept the reality that a change needs to be made. This can be excruciatingly painful to be awake to these parts of our lives or selves that we have spent so much of our lives hiding from, ignoring, or denying. And, in those dark and painful shadows often lies the answers to our suffering.
My Background and Approach
I specialize in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) which is a structured and skill focused therapy that integrates the dialectic of both acceptance and change. DBT teaches interpersonal effectiveness skills, emotion regulation skills, distress tolerance skills, and mindfulness skills. Some other specialties include: addiction, PTSD, sexual trauma, sexual empowerment, anxiety. My counseling style tends to be humanistic, direct, compassionate, real, creative, & unconventional.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Much of my journey so far has been about shedding the skins of conditioning, unlearning ways of surviving that no longer are effective, acknowledging and challenging negative subconscious beliefs, finding my voice again, facing fears, learning how to step into empowerment, becoming more awake in my life, feeling and naming my emotions, moving from living in constant fear to being curious about the fear, learning creative and soulful ways to release things, and living in my truth. I would be honored to share some of this wisdom with you as you continue embarking on your own journey whether that be through holding space for you, teaching you a mindfulness technique, integrating somatic movement, suggesting a therapeutic art activity, reflecting back to you things I hear you say or patterns I notice... the possibilities are expansive. I really enjoy supporting individuals in increasing meaning in their life, so that they want to be awake in their life.
