Do you have difficulty falling asleep? Do you wake up in the middle of the night unable to go back to sleep? Is you lack of sleep impacting your day time activities or mood? REMedy counseling specializes in the treatment of insomnia using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT-I). If you want to improve your sleep we can help. CBT-I is an evidence-based treatment for sleep issues that is safer than medications and is the recommended first line of treatment for insomnia.
My Background and Approach
CBT-I is considered the gold standard treatment for insomnia. CBT-I is effective in improving sleep in 80% of cases. When I meet with you, I will spend time learning about your specific sleep difficulties. I will teach you how to track your sleep using a sleep diary. Keeping a sleep diary is an essential part of treatment. Once you have tracked your sleep daily for 1-2 weeks we will meet again and develop a specialized treatment plan to get your sleep back on track. CBT-I typically takes 6-8 weeks to reset your sleep and maximize the amount of sleep you can get at night.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a licensed clinical social worker who has been practicing for 20+ years. I have experience working in research, private practice and medical settings. I enjoy collaborating with my clients. As a team we work together to resolve the sleep challenges your are having. I am passionate about this therapy and its effectiveness. When I am not working, I enjoy hiking, travel, reading and spending time with family and friends.
