About My Clients
I work with femmes, queers, and anyone healing from trauma and abuse, especially those who feel stuck, disconnected, or overwhelmed. My clinical research focused on creative and somatic interventions for femmes and queers surviving trauma and cycles of abuse, and it shapes how I practice. You may be carrying anxiety, flashbacks, shame, or numbness. You might be new to therapy or tired of talking without change. My practice is LGBTQ+ friendly. We go at your pace.
My Background and Approach
Clinical, artistic, and holistic approaches to healing rarely speak to one another, and clients are left to piece them together alone. I offer an ethical bridge between clinical interventions and embodied practices. I’m a provisionally licensed professional counselor (LPC), practicing under supervision at Alicia Rowley Counseling, trained in EMDR and trauma-informed art therapy with 20 years as a dance and yoga educator. My clinical research focused on creative and somatic interventions for femmes and queers surviving trauma and abuse cycles. I previously provided care across inpatient, PHP, IOP, and outpatient levels in the Omaha VA healthcare system. I believe trauma takes away our sense of control, which destroys our felt-sense of connectedness. My approach focuses on restoring both: helping you feel safe in your body, regain choice, and reconnect with yourself and others.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe healing happens in relationship, and that you are the expert on your own life. Trauma can leave us feeling powerless and alone, so my work is about restoring choice and connection at a pace that feels safe. You don’t need to be creative or artistic to work with me. After teaching movement across continents and with all kinds of bodies and abilities, I believe the body is inherently creative and wise. Dominant cultural norms disconnect us from our bodies, and I seek to help you reconnect with that power. How we feel about our bodies shapes our mental health. Positive self-regard grows from the ground up, and that’s how we heal trauma from the root.
