It is critical to our healing and growth that we explore and understand the relationship between our thoughts, feelings, and actions. Unpacking the complexities of these processes and slowing down this cycle allows us to gain insight and awareness into our problems. I received formal, in-person training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in 2016 and continue to maintain this orientation as the foundation of my practice.
Current research continues to demonstrate the wealth of benefits from this age-old practice. As a mindfulness practitioner myself, in addition to the many professional seminars and trainings I've attended over the years, I will empower you to become more aware of your physical, mental, and emotional self. As the saying goes - if you can't name it, you can't change it. Let's increase your awareness and create space in your mind to make lasting change.
Mostly, we just want to feel better. Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) allows us to do this in a collaborative, goal-oriented way. I received formal, in-person training in SFBT in 2017 and continue to incorporate this orientation into my practice with individuals every day. By identifying and implementing your inherent strengths, we'll work toward shifting your mindset and making room to cultivate the best possible version of yourself.
Anxiety can function as the spark that ignites our motivation to get up, work hard, and achieve great things. But that spark can turn into a flame, or even a fire if we're not careful to manage it and take care of ourselves. I've worked with many high functioning and successful people who feel paralyzed by their own negative thoughts and fears, who experience frequent anxiety attacks, and whose relationships with themselves and others have suffered as a result. Let's take a breath together.
Whether it's circumstantial or chronic, depression hurts so many of us. My experience working with individuals in a number of cities and settings, including outpatient mental health clinics, schools, hospitals, and university campuses, has allowed me to see depression in all its forms. It's so hard to reach out for support when we feel hopeless, tired, and overwhelmed - you're taking such an important step in your healing process just by being here.
My practice has allowed me to work closely with folks in college and graduate school, managing the immense stress that comes with being a student. I also have experience working with individuals who recently graduated, started a new job, moved, or entered into a new relationship - all of which can stir up so many intense emotions! Change is hard enough, don't go through it alone.
