Anxiety, especially social anxiety, can be one of the hardest struggles a person can experience. Anxiety, untreated, can spread to "other areas" of life and start to rob joy from those moments. Many forms of anxiety can be treated with well research psychological skills and interventions. Dr. Chen used a combination of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Cognitive (aka Thought Based) Theory, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Unified Protocol for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders.
Dr. Chen has worked as an inpatient group and individual therapist at a nationally recognized eating disorder treatment and currently (as of March 2019) is the primary Intensive Out-patient therapist for the same treatment facility. In Dr. Chen's private practice he works with both women and men who struggle with poor body image and/or emotional eating.
Dr. Chen has worked with and continues to work with teenagers and adults whom are struggling with depression, low self-esteem, and/or low self-confidence. Dr. Chen treatment is based in research-validated (i.e. evidence based) techniques, along with skills development, as a means to treat the "here and now" emotions of depression and loneness, along with the underlying causes and roots of the emotions.
