About My Clients

I work with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences. My goal is to help individuals better understand how past experiences impact issues occurring in present day. Client's can expect to discuss issues ranging from systemic/ institutional oppression to family of origin dynamics. I appreciate talking openly about power and privilege; and encourage clients to give me interpersonal feedback about our experiences in the therapy room together.

My Background and Approach

I believe that we all have the power to create change in our lives by allowing ourselves to see ourselves and be seen by others in our lives. Together, we will explore the origins of your patterns of thinking/behaving/relating, as well as the functions that these patterns serve, assess your barriers to change, identify your strengths and resources, and practice new ways of coping in order to help you live a more satisfying life. To assist clients in their process, I uses a relational, client-centered approach with a multicultural and social justice lens. I use warmth, humor, and authenticity to build relationships with my clients, which allows them to practice engaging in new patterns in a therapeutic environment. Additionally, I strive to collaboratively identify clients' strengths and come up with strategies to help clients overcome difficulties and to live a fuller, more meaningful life. I want to identify strategies that are sustainable and feasible for you to use in daily life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am biased. I believe that people are capable of growth and change. I also know it is incredible hard and complicated. In therapy, I will ask a lot of you, but I will also support you on your journey and give you guidance, encouragement, and support. I am also aware that change does not occur in a vacuum and will bring in systemic and external factors that hinder our ability to grow and change in ways that we want.
