About My Clients
I enjoy working with adolescents and young adults, people that are going into adulthood or early into adulthood. I enjoy helping people see how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected, challenging irrational thoughts, and creating goals. I truly love working with people who want to do the work. I saw firsthand what mental illnesses could do to individuals and families. I worked in restaurants and raised three children. I chose to break generational toxic patterns and cycles.
My Background and Approach
The modalities I enjoy using our CBT, REBT, solution-focused, motivational interviewing, humanistic, gestalt, and others as needed. One of my specialties is pinpointing areas of concern and working to manage the symptoms. My approach is a combination of various theories, including but not limited to CBT, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused. Some of my therapeutic strengths are challenging irrational thoughts, creating goals, and managing symptoms of mental illness. I enjoy working with adolescents and young adults. I get it.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I grew up in the 70s and 80s watched my father struggle with many symptoms of PTSD. I saw what that did to my mother and sister. And I felt all the things that it did to me. I decided after 25 years of working in restaurants that I wanted to do something different, and this is where my therapeutic path began. I went back to school at age 45 and received a master's degree in counseling. The therapeutic goals I have for my clients are to manage symptoms of mental illness, reduce anger, manage stress, anxiety, and depression, set goals, communicate issues, and more.
