My Background and Approach
My style is interactive, collaborative, and focused. Therapy may not be easy, but I’ll offer guidance and support to help you recognize and break patterns that keep couples “stuck” in a negative cycle. We'll explore how past experiences, temperament, values, and culture influence relationships. We’ll discuss tools to help calm intense emotions so that disagreements can be resolved more effectively and couples can communicate with intention.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I draw upon practices that are informed by science, but are ultimately human. Although I have training in a lot of different orientations, the heart of my work is influenced by Emotionally Focused Therapy and The Gottman Method. I also believe that for some couples, learning skills to guide communication and regulate emotions is essential and often refer to the practices of DBT.
