About My Clients
My clients tend to be bright, with a desire to grow and learn about themselves. Oftentimes they have great senses of humor, yet are willing to let me help them feel the full spectrum of emotions.
My Background and Approach
I fell into the mental health field in college, and consider myself lucky to have found a career that resonated from the start, and continues to evolve and challenge me. I now have 23 years experience working in mental health. After becoming a parent, I became interested in the transition to parenthood. The path to becoming a parent can be isolating, confusing, and painful. The postpartum stage, in particular, can be brutal, but with just a little bit of support and strategies, it can also be magic.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Although I have degrees, a license and advanced board certification, I prefer to approach my clients in a collaborative fashion, reducing power differentials. In addition to therapy, I host an online school for the Fourth Trimester and beyond. Courses include "Prevent Postpartum Depression" (www.PreventPPD.com) and "Relationships After Baby"(available at www.RelationshipsAfterBaby.com). I am the author of "The Postpartum Depression Workbook," available both on burdtherapy.com and wherever books are sold.
