About My Clients

My clients come in for the type of therapy we build together. Identity questions keep popping up. Patterns in relationships you can see clearly and just can't break. Trauma you've barely been keeping at bay. The gap between how your life looks from outside and how it feels from inside. Many are queer, trans, or gender-diverse adults who want a therapist who affirms their identity without making it the only topic of therapy. Many have tried surface fixes and want therapy that reaches further.

My Background and Approach

I'm a licensed counseling psychologist (Ph.D., 2019) with 15+ years working with adults. I trained at university counseling centers and a Veterans Affairs PTSD specialty clinic, working with everything from single-incident trauma to complex relational trauma. My approach combines existential-humanistic and interpersonal-process therapy. In plain terms: I care about the whole picture of who you are, not just the symptoms that brought you in. Relationship patterns, emotional experience, and how culture, identity, and history shape the way you move through the world all belong in the room. A feminist lens runs through all of it — power systems and context are central to understanding all of our experiences. Sessions are collaborative and direct. I ask questions that open things up. I'll push when it's useful. I won't pretend the work is faster or cleaner than it actually is. I also provide gender-affirming surgery evaluations and letters per WPATH standards.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe people are not problems to be solved. The behaviors and symptoms that brought you in are usually intelligent responses to something — your history, your context, the world you've actually had to live in. My job is to be curious with you about what's underneath, not to pathologize what's on the surface. I'm a feminist therapist. That means I pay attention to power: who has it, who doesn't, and how that shapes each of us. I believe in body autonomy, in gender-affirming care, and in the proposition that queer and trans people deserve therapy that starts from the assumption there's nothing to fix. As an interpersonal therapist, I believe that my own identity and dynamics will often be present in the room. I believe in evidence — both the kind that's heavily researched and the kind that comes from actually listening to clients. I don't trust quick fixes; real change takes time and honesty. Outside the office, I cook, watch college basketball, and try to keep up with my Sheltie.
