Worry can wreck your sleep, and poor sleep can flatten your mood, so one problem easily hides another. This educational mental illness quiz gives an overall score, flags answers that matter on their own, and points to next steps. It doesn’t diagnose.

Mental Health Quiz Evidence for Broad Symptom Screening

The American Psychiatric Association’s assessment measures work in two levels: a broad screen flags the symptom areas worth a closer look, then a narrower measure examines each one. This quiz handles the first level.

Mental Illness Screening Methodology for a Multi-Condition Quiz

Designed for adults 18+, this 20-item self-report screening test is informed by DSM-5-TR cross-cutting domains and research on PHQ-9, GAD-7, PC-PTSD-5, MDQ, ASRS, SCOFF, and AUDIT-C. It surveys mood, anxiety, trauma, attention, thought and behavior patterns, sleep, eating, substance use, and functioning. It is not a validated diagnostic instrument, and self-report, cultural context, current circumstances, and different symptom time frames can affect results.

Privacy Protection for Mental Health Quiz Responses

Your individual responses and personal data are not collected or stored. Answers remain on your device during the quiz, and only the final numerical score is retained in strictly anonymized form for statistical panels used to improve the tool. The retained score cannot be linked back to your identity or individual answers.

Symptom Score Calculation Across Mental Health Domains

Each response is scored from 1 to 5. Positively worded items are reverse-scored before the 20 values are summed, producing a total from 20 to 100. A higher score reflects more symptoms across multiple mental health domains; a lower score reflects fewer. Safety-related responses are considered separately.

What Disorder Do I Have? Questions About Your Quiz Score

Telling a hard month from a mental illness, or one condition from several, takes more than a total score. Timing, overlap, and a clinical evaluation fill that gap.
